AMD is gaining market share in notebook, desktop and server processors after signing a deal with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co to produce its flagship processors, industry sources said. As a result, AMD, Intel and Nvidia have all had to adjust their strategies and product roadmaps to capture TSMC's advanced process capacity. AMD must make prepayments totaling $6.5 billion to suppliers such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, Grofand and others for the rest of the year, according to its quarterly report. This follows separate reports that Nvidia plans to pay more than $10 billion for TSMC to supply 5nm and more advanced processes for its upcoming Gpus.
